Rec-League & City-League Rebrand Consulting

Your rec league isn't losing sign-ups because it's not good enough. It's losing them because it looks like the backup option.

A rebrand for city and community rec leagues: a clear position, a message parents understand, and the materials to run enrollment season with it.

The problem

Sound familiar?

  • Enrollment keeps sliding, and nobody can say exactly why.
  • Parents hear “competitive” and assume it means travel ball. Rec starts to sound like what you sign up for when you didn't make the team.
  • You can't say in one sentence how your league is different from the travel program down the street.
  • Your web presence is last year's flyer, a page that gets updated twice a year, or nothing at all.

None of this is a money problem. For most of the families it's built for, a good rec league is the better fit. The problem is that the branding, the website, and the messaging tell parents it's the lesser choice before anyone has seen a practice.

Deliverables

What's included

01

Repositioning and messaging strategy

Who the league is for, what it offers, and a short set of messages in plain language. Written so a volunteer can use them in a flyer, at a council meeting, and at registration, and say the same thing each time.

02

Website and digital presence refresh guidance

A page-by-page guide to what your site, registration page, and social accounts need to say, and in what order. It's guidance, not a site build. City IT, a volunteer, or a vendor can carry it out.

03

Enrollment-season marketing materials

The core materials for your next enrollment window, such as flyer copy, email, social posts, and registration-page copy, all built on the new positioning.

04

A parent-facing value proposition

A short, honest case for rec that competes with travel ball's positioning without competing on its terms. You're not pitching a cheaper version of travel. It's built from what is true of your league, not from generic claims.

Why Zubie Five

Who you’d be working with

Zubie Five Sports is run by Adam Zubiate in Tempe, Arizona. Adam has spent about a decade in sports corporate partnerships, including work connected to the Arizona Diamondbacks, the Arizona Hotshots, and the LA Clippers G League Team. That job is mostly working out what a team or league actually has to offer and saying it clearly to someone deciding in a few seconds. Adam has done the same brand strategy and marketing work for independent authors, which is a useful comparison: small operation, no marketing department, and a buyer who has a lot of other options.

This consulting is separate from Zubie Five's sponsorship brokerage.

Engagement model

How it’s priced and scoped

We start with a complimentary call where you tell us what's going on. From there we scope the work to fit your organization, with a clear plan in writing before anything begins, and you can stop whenever the work is done. Scoped and priced per engagement.

Step 1

Complimentary initial call

You describe what's happening. We tell you honestly whether this is something we can help with.

Step 2

Written scope and price

What's included, what it costs, how long it takes. Nothing starts until you agree to it.

Step 3

The work

Delivered as documents and materials your volunteers or staff can use without us in the room.
